Orthodontics

The orthodontic treatment is necessary when there is a wrong positioning of the teeth and jaws, as well as functional problems in the mouth and facial structures. The treatment will have the following goals:
a)    To have a harmonious face and a beautiful smile;
b)    To improve the mouth’s function and structures (chewing and swallowing, breathing, speech and facial expression);
c)    To reduce the risk of dental fractures.

What kind of orthodontic braces exist?

Fixed braces
These are the most popular orthodontic braces. They are made of supports with metal arches which pressure the teeth in order to reposition them.

Expansion braces
These are used to alter the shape of the dental arch.

Functional braces
These are removable or fixed braces, which can be used to correct the problems of the jaw bones.
Removable functional braces are usually used during the night and some hours of the day. Among their advantages we list the fact that they can be easily cleaned and that they can be easily taken off during meals.
